8 Steps to Starting a TSA Chapter

1.

Affiliate via TSAweb.org. Click on the red “Chapter Membership” button.

2.

Use the TSA promotional video, TSA promotional powerpoint and brochure to help you promote and organize your first meeting with students, parents, and other educators.

Introduce your chapter to the New Mexico state TSA advisor.

Invite an existing, local TSA chapter or the state officers to assist you in your first meeting. If you need information about local chapters, contact us.

5.

Decide on a meeting schedule. Appoint or elect student chapter officers.

7.

Collaborate with student chapter officers to develop a calendar or program of work with key milestones for the academic year to include individual and group project work.

4.

Determine which competitions match the interests and abilities of your student members.

8.

Mentor and advise your students as they work on their year long projects to prepare for the State Conference in April.
